AP govt releases Rs 108.19 Cr for handloom loan waiver

HYDERABAD: The Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy today released a sum of Rs 108.19 crore towards loan waiver for lakhs of handloom workers in the state.

The loan-waiver scheme is applicable for around 1.5 lakh families of handloom workers and 450 primary handloom cooperative societies who have taken artisans' loans under PMRY and Rajiv Yuva Sakthi schemes, as well as from private banks.

A sum of around Rs 60.65 crore was released towards waiver of loans taken under District Central Cooperative Banks and primary cooperative societies; Rs 31.94 crore were released towards waiver of old loans taken from the Government and Rs.16 crore towards waiver of loans taken from commercial banks.
