100 unlicensed textile units demolished

A total of 100 unlicensed textile processing and textile dyeing units functioning in some areas in Erode district have been demolished in the past2 months.

ERODE: A total of 100 unlicensed textile processing and textile dyeing units functioning in some areas in the district have been demolished in the past two months as per the Pollution Control Act, Pollution Control Board sources said today.

In two months,100 unlicensed textile processing and textile dyeing units functioning in Veerappanchatram, Asokapuram, Periyasemur, Surampatty, Kollampalayam and Vairapalayam area were demolished as per Pollution Control Act, PCB officials said.

They said the Pollution Committee,comprising Pollution Control Board officials, Police, Revenue and Electricity Board officials, conducted intensive checks in number of textile printing and dyeing units in and around Erode.

They demolished 100 such units in two months for running the factories without proper license and discharging the effluent into the drains.

The Pollution Control Board has issued notices and cases have been registered against the 100 dismantled textile units, they added.
