Yogen Fruz opens its first store in India at Kolkata

KOLKATA: Yogen Fruz, the Canadian company which pioneered the frozen dessert and snack business, has made its foray into Indian market by opening its first outlet in Kolkata.

Yogen Fruz, which sells frozen yogurt has outlets in 1,400 locations in 30 countries across the globe and threw open its Kolkata outlet on Friday.

Launching the outlet, Yogen Fruz vice-president Carlos Campo said "We are excited to be making our foray into the ever growing Indian market".

Frozen yogurt, he said, is slated as the next revolution in healthy snacking, offering a healthier alternative to ice cream.

Franchisee of South and East India Rishi Bajoria said frozen yogurt has a long way to go in India. Though there were a handful of brands present in this category there was room for many more.

"We shall be opening the first couple of stores in Kolkata. We plan to open over 100 stores in the country in the next seven years," he added.
