World Spice Congress to begin in Kochi on February 16

KOCHI: The three-day 12 thworld spice congress will begin on February 16 with the theme 'sustainability and food safety: global initiatives' in Kochi. The biennial event jointly organized by the Spices Board and the All India Spices Exporter's Forum will bring together global thought leaders, grower representatives, policy defining bodies as well as leading players from the spice industry and food and beverages companies onto one platform.

Over 700 delegates from over 40 countries are expected to participate in the event. Rajeev Kher, secretary , Ministry of Commerce and Industry will hold a special session on February 17, the second day of the world spice congress.

Some of the eminent speakers attending the event include Daniel Giovannucci, president of Committee of Sustainability Assessment, USA: Tony Bruggink, director, The sustainable trade initiative, Netherlands; Margaret A Hamburg, commissioner of the US Food and Drug Administration, USA; Parvinder Singh, managing director, Common Fund for Commodities, The Netherlands; S Dave, chairperson, Codex Alimentarius Commission and Dr Risto Holma, administrator, European.
