Unique Organics, a spices and feed ingredients company, is planning to set up an integrated herbal tea processing facility in West Bengal. Total outlay on the project is estimated at Rs 500 crore.

KOLKATA: Unique Organics, a spices and feed ingredients company, is planning to set up an integrated herbal tea processing facility in West Bengal. Total outlay on the project is estimated at Rs 500 crore.

"The proposed investment entails setting up of a tea processing facility and opening outlets for direct consumption of herbal tea," said Mr J.P. Kanodia, managing director, Unique Organics. "We have identified land in the northern part of the state and are in an advanced stage of negotiation with landowners. As soon as we clinch the deal, we will set up an integrated herbal tea processing faculty for marketing domestically as well as the overseas," Mr Kanodia added.

The company is also looking at growth in the area of oil seeds and millets, which Mr Kanodia feels, has a huge export potential. Incidentally, the company has two rice bran extraction processing plants at Arambagh in Burdwan district and Kolkata. Rice bran extraction is used as animal feed.
