Temptation Foods says RoC has asked it to wind up business

Temptation Foods today said the RoC has ordered winding up of the company and an official liquidator has been appointed for this purpose.

MUMBAI: Temptation Foods today said the Registrar of Companies (RoC) has ordered winding up of the company and an official liquidator has been appointed for this purpose.

In a BSE filing, Temptation Foods said the Deputy Registrar of Companies has ordered winding up of the company after hearing the petition number 372 and 381 of 2010.

"Official liquidator has been appointed with effect from March 28, 2012," the filing added.

The company has been in news for all wrong reasons in the last few years.

In late 2010, the company's Chairman and Managing Director Vinit Kumar was sent to judicial custody in connection with a case involving former Union Home Ministry official Ravi Inder Singh.

Earlier, market regulator Sebi had also pulled up the company and its top officials for misleading information about its stake in another company named Kohinoor Foods.

Besides, the company's shares have already been suspended for penal reasons, while there have been reports of income tax searches on the company premises.

The company spokesperson could not be reached immediately for comments, while the exact reasons for liquidation could not be ascertained.
