Tata Tea team swap bases

KOLKATA: It is a two-way strategic move by Tata Tea. The company has shifted its marketing division from Kolkata to Bangalore. Simultaneously, the buying & blending team has been relocated to Kolkata. These operations were partly carried out in Bangalore till now.

The move is part of an operational reorientation programme initiated by the company. Executive director (marketing) Sangeeta Talwar, who leads Tata Tea’s brand management team, will now sit in Bangalore. VP Kiran N Desai will lead the buying & blending operations in Kolkata.Confirming the developments, Tata Tea MD Percy Siganporia told ET: “As part of its ongoing strategy to streamline its operations, Tata Tea has done this reorganisation.

The team movements have been made to avail of the benefits of a unified tea operation, which will eventually have a positive impact on the bottomline. The corporate office and registered office of Tata Tea continue to remain in Kolkata.”
