Puducherry goverment sends Maggi samples for tests

Nestle India has claimed it has got samples tested in an external laboratory as well as in-house and the product was found "safe to eat".

PUDUCHERRY: With mounting safety concerns in many states over Maggi noodles, Puducherry government today said samples have been sent for lab tests and follow up action would be taken, based on the results.

"Samples of Maggi noodles have been sent for tests here and to Delhi. The results of the lab tests is expected to be available by evening today and depending on the findings the government would take follow up action," Chief Minister N Rangasamy told reporters here.

Director of Health and Family Welfare Services Dr Raman, who was also present, said nothing would be left to chance.

The samples of Maggi noodles are being subjected to laboratory examination in several states following detection of monosodium glutamate and lead in excess of the prescribed limit in the popular snack.
