Pizza Hut to outsource delivery riders 

Restaurant chain, with a 7 per cent YoY decline in its same-store sales for the quarter ended June, will no longer deliver pizzas through its own employees.

NEW DELHI: Pizza Hut, the second-largest pizza restaurant in the country with more than 350 stores, has outsourced its delivery riders to a third party in an attempt to rein in fixed costs even as western-style food chains are facing a consumption slowdown.

The Yum Restaurants-owned restaurant chain, which reported a 7 per cent year on-year decline in its same-store sales for the quarter ended June, will no longer deliver pizzas through its own employees, starting with top five cities, since it is cheaper for a low volume player to outsource delivery, industry insiders said.
