Parle eyes 25 pc share in domestic snacks market

Biscuit major Parle Products on Thursday said the company is eyeing a 25 per cent share in the Rs 2,500-crore snacks market in the next three years.

NEW DELHI: Biscuit major Parle Products on Thursday said the company is eyeing a 25 per cent share in the Rs 2,500-crore snacks market in the next three years.

"Parle has recently entered into the snacks market with the launch of 'Musstchips and stixx' and in the next three years, we are targeting share of 25 per cent," Parle Products Private Ltd Group Product Manager Mayank Shah told reporters here.

He said that the company is now competing with likes of Pepsi and ITC in the snacks market. It is now planning to launch aggressive marketing and distribution strategy to acheive the target.

Shah however decline to comment on queries related to the investment in the marketing activities but said, the company is primarily "banking on increase awareness about health issues to drive the growth."

"Our snacks are backed not fried, which makes it healthier as compared to other products available in the category and this would be our growth driver," Shah said.

Parle also launched corporate social responsibility activity under its initiative 'My Green Planet'.

Parle market brands such as Musst Bites, Jess, Sixer and Sixer Jeera under the snacks category. It has clocked a turnover of Rs 3,000 crore in the last fiscal and is eyeing a 10-12 per cent growth in the current fiscal.
