Non-carbonated drinks market may touch Rs 54,000 crore by 2015: Assocham
The country's non-carbonated drink market, which includes fruit drinks, nectars and juices, size may touch Rs 54,000 crore by 2015.
At present, the market size is estimated at Rs 22,000 crore, it said.
Factors including growing obesity and increasing disposable incomes, particularly in urban areas, have helped push sales of non-carbonates, it said.
"The non-carbonated drink market is growing at a faster pace, while carbonated drink segment has declined by 15-20 per cent in the last three years as consumers are becoming more health conscious," Assocham Secretary General D S Rawat said.
The chamber said it has covered about 2,500 people, particularly youth, in cities, including Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai.
Among the non-carbonated drinks, products which are growing at a faster rate include juices segment which is growing at 30 per cent and fruit drinks category at 15 per cent per annum.
