No ground for Maggi ban in West Bengal: Mamata Banerjee, Chief Minister

Opposition parties said Banerjee is indulging in ‘politics over Maggi’ and her view is a “Trinamool view and not the Bengal government’s view".

KOLKATA: Going against the national trend of banning Maggi for its alleged content of lead beyond the permissible limit, West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Friday said her government did not find ‘any unwanted material’ in samples tested so far.

Her statement on Maggi today came after several states opting for a ban on the sale of Maggi. While the opposition parties said Banerjee is indulging in ‘politics over Maggi’ and her view is a “Trinamool view and not the Bengal government’s view,” BJP claimed that Mamata Banerjee must have got ‘cut money’ to settle score.

“We have not found any unwanted material in Maggi samples in the studies done so far. Tests will continue,” said Banerjee
