Nestle resumes Maggi noodles production at all plants in India

It had reported a standalone loss of Rs 64.40 crore in the second quarter (April-June) for the first time in last 15 years due to the ban on Maggi.

NEW DELHI: Foods maker Nestle announced on Monday that it has resumed production of Maggi noodles at all five manufacturing plants in India. The company has restarted production of the instant noodles — which returned to stores in November after a fivemonth ban — from its Tahliwal plant in Himachal Pradesh. “The company has resumed manufacturing of Maggi noodles at its Tahliwal (Himachal Pradesh) factory.

With this, it has resumed manufacture of Maggi noodles at all five noodle manufacturing facilities,” Nestle said in a BSE filing. The company’s other plants at Karnataka, Punjab, Goa and Pantnagar in Himachal Pradesh had already resumed production last month.

Food regulator Food Safety and Standards Authority of India ( FSSAI) had banned Maggi noodles in June on allegations that it contained lead in excess of permissible limits.

The maker of KitKat chocolates and Cerelac infant food took a hit of Rs 450 crore and had to destroy over 30,000 tonnes of Maggi after the ban.
