McDonald’s to set up its first GCC in India

The company has leased two floors spanning 2 lakh square feet at RMZ Nexity Tower 20 in the city.
At a rental rate of around Rs 90 per square foot, the facility is set to begin operations by mid-2025.
“The decision to set up a GCC in Hyderabad underscores the city’s appeal as a destination for multinational corporations. The centre will serve as its global hub and is the largest outside the US. It can seat around 2,000 employees,” said a person aware of the deal.
McDonald’s announcement joins a growing list of companies choosing Hyderabad to house their GCCs.
“Our global offices serve as dynamic innovation and operations hubs, designed to expand McDonald’s global talent base and in-house expertise. Our new office in Hyderabad will bring together knowledge across business, technology, analytics, and AI, accelerating our ability to deliver impactful solutions for the business and our customers across the globe,” said McDonald’s in its LinkedIn post.
McDonald’s did not respond to an email query from ET.
GCCs are offshore or nearshore units established by multinational companies to use talent, technology, and cost advantages in specific regions. These centres act as extensions of the parent organisation, housing specialised teams that undertake critical functions.
The company has registered “McDonald’s Capability Centre India Pvt Ltd” with the ministry of corporate affairs.
In 2024, Hyderabad recorded office space transactions totalling 12.5 million square feet, accounting for 19% of the 66.4 million square feet transacted across six major cities in India. Of this, GCCs contributed notably, absorbing 4.7 million square feet, while flex space operators took 1.8 million square feet.
