McDonald’s Kolkata says 'investigating' lizard incident

McDonald’s said officials from the Food Safety Authority have inspected its restaurant premises and have given the chain permission to re-open the restaurant .

NEW DELHI: Burger and fries chain McDonald’s store in a Kolkata mall, which was temporarily shut down after a consumer lodged a police complaint that she found a deep fried lizard in her food, has since been reopened, the company said.

A McDonald’s spokesperson said it is taking the situation 'seriously'. "On learning of the complaint, we launched a thorough investigation to gather the facts of the matter...it is still on-going. We are fully cooperating with the authorities," the spokesperson said. The complaint was filed on February 28.
