Maharashtra government won’t appeal against ruling on Maggi

MUMBAI: The Maharashtra government and the Centre are on the same page on the issue of Maggi. They both are not in favour of banning it. The Maharashtra government has said that contrary to reports they have no intention to ban Maggi and the state will not appeal against a Bombay High Court decision lifting the country wide ban on the 2-minute noodles. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis is learnt to have personally stepped in to ensure that there is no ban on Maggi.

“Firstly why should Maggi be banned when tests conducted have shown it is safe to consume. Secondly going after Maggi in spite of the tests will be seen as nothing more than a witch-hunt and it is going to hurt investments of Nestle in Maharashtra. Besides the above two reasons the fact is that other states are not banning Maggi after the HC lifted the stay,” said a state government source.
