NEW DELHI: Foods firm Nestle said on Tuesday that its Maggi noodles has topped more than 50% market share in the noodles category quoting data by researcher Nielsen. It has also re-launched Maggi vegetable atta and oats noodles.

Nestle chairman Suresh Narayanan said in a statement: "With the latest relaunch, we are aiming to provide more choices to suit consumer preferences, driving greater volumes and building back our market share."

Nestle has partnered with Snapdeal to exclusively sell both variants initially.

Food regulator Food Safety & Standards Authority of India ( FSSAI), had banned Maggi last June following allegations that the popular snack contained lead in excess of permissible levels and that there was mislabeling related to flavour enhancer monosodium glutamate (MSG).

Maggi returned to stores five months later.
