JISL acquires food processing unit in Bhavnagar

Jain Irrigation Systems, market leader in drib irrigation equipment, has acquired a food processing unit in Bhavnagar.

VADODARA: Jain Irrigation Systems, market leader in drib irrigation equipment, has acquired a food processing unit in Bhavnagar for meeting the demand from manufacturers of soups, sauce, pizza and ketchup, a top official of the company said.

Talking to the newspersons at the Onion Dehydration plant located at Dhobikuva village in Vadodara district, Charitra Jain, senior vice-president of the company, said the unit in Bhavnagar in the Saurashtra region will cater to the needs of domestic market only.

Whereas, the plant at Dhobikuva village will continue to meet the demand of international market as it is export- oriented unit.

Looking at the of good quality of onions, JISL has set up two onion dehydration plants in Gujarat, one at Dhobikuva and another at Bhavnagar.

The total capacity of these two onion dehydration plants in Gujarat is 5,000 tons while JISL's Jalgaon plant has annual capacity of 10,000 tons. It has onion dehydration plant in the US with a capacity is 10,000 tons, while total onion purches is 2,00,000 tons, Jain said.

Jain claimed that JISL is the only company in the organised sector that produces dehydrated onions and deal in nearly 40 pc of the total exports of dehydrated onions from India.

JISL has also developed new onion varieties with high pungency, high solids and high yield.
