ITC Ltd to enter dairy sector

KOLKATA: Diversified conglomerate ITC Ltd would enter the dairy sector for manufacturing milk and milk-based products, Chairman Y C Deveshwar said.

"We are starting animal husbandry as a CSR activity at all our plants starting with Munger in Bihar", Deveshwar told reporters after the company's AGM here today.

Over a certain period, the company would spend nearly Rs 400 crore to Rs 500 crore in the dairy business.

Deveshwar said that as a forward integration in the value chain, the company would utilise the milk derived from animal husbandry activity by selling it to the market and also to make milk-based products.
