AMUL-maker Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation crosses $2.5 bn mark, to invest Rs 3000 crore in expanding processing capacities.
The results of the apex body of dairy co-operatives in the country were declared during the 38th annual general meeting on Thursday. GCMMF paid Rs 9901 crore to its member unions covering 32 lakh farmers. The milk co-operative paid 58% more to farmers for their milk over the last three years.
Farmers received a price of Rs 468 per kg fat for their milk against 298 in 2008-09, it said. Chairman P Bhatol said GCMMF would invest Rs 3000 crore to set up nine processing units in the next four years to handle 180 lakh litres of milk per day against current 145 lakh litres. “GCMMF plans to achieve a turnover of Rs 14400 crore in 2012-12,” he added.
