Godrej Tyson to extend Yummiez brand to 60 cities by Sept 2014

MUMBAI: Godrej Tyson Foods ( GTFL), which launched Real Good Chicken 400 gram pack at Rs 48, today said the company is planning to extend the reach if its Real Good Yummiez brand to over 60 cities by September next year.

"Our Real Good Yummiez brand is currently available in over 50 cities in 4,000 stores. We are planning to add more cities and take the total to 60 by the end of September 2014," Godrej Tyson Food COO Arabind Das told reporters here.

GTFL's Real Good Chicken is available in five cities in 1,500 stores.

The company's financial year is from October to September.

GTFL launched Real Good Chicken 400 gram pack at Rs 48 with an aim to provide affordable and safe quality proteins.

"While inflation has led home makers to alter their kitchen budgets and forced many families to cut consumption, the range of products under the brand, will not just provide consumers affordable and safe quality chicken but enable them to make protein an integral part of the diet," Das said.

The company is a joint venture between Godrej Agrovet, a part of the Godrej Group and US-headquartered Tyson Foods Inc.

Going forward, Das said, the company is going to focus on fixing cold storage and supply chain that will help in increasing the product reach.

"We want to enhance our reach, for which we will focus on cold storage and supply chain. We are spending Rs 7-10 crore on this venture," Das added.

GTFL is also planning to enhance its product portfolio under the Real Good Yummiez brand, he said.

"We are planning to introduce 6-8 value-added new products by the end of our financial year, which will be under both vegetarian and non-vegetarian categories," he added.
