Edible oils remain in demand for marriage season

Select edible oils remained in demand on the oils and oilseeds market for the second week under review on stockists' buying and vanaspati mills to meet the ongoing marriage season.

NEW DELHI: Select edible oils remained in demand on the oils and oilseeds market for the second week under review on stockists' buying and vanaspati mills to meet the ongoing marriage season.

Brisk-buying by stockists and vanaspati mills to meet marriage session demand amid paucity of ready stocks, mainly pushed up prices of edible oils.

Restricted arrivals from producing region in Uttar Pradesh, and firming global trend also supported the movement to some extent.

A few non-edible oils price also marked ahead on scattered buying interest.

Marketmen said increased offtake by stockists and vanaspati mills supported by restricted supply, largely brought the surge in edible oils prices.

They said there was significant demand for marriage season which triggered buying in vanaspati ghee and refined oils.
