DSG Consumer invests in snack food company Tierra Food

"The product is now available in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Andaman", said Alex Thomas, founder and managing director, Tierra Food India Ltd.

KOCHI: DSG Consumer Partners, a Singapore based venture capital fund has invested in Tierra Food, an ethnic snack food company based in Kochi.

Tierra Food is likely to end the year 2013 with a turnover of Rs 8 crore. In the coming year the company is targeting a turnover of Rs 18 crore. The investment by DSG Consumer Partners will help the company to improve its capacity utilization, expand its market and increase capacity.

The company markets Kappo and Banano brands of cassava and banana chips. "The product is now available in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Andaman", said Alex Thomas, founder and managing director, Tierra Food India Ltd.

With its investments DSG Consumer Partners would take 25 % of the equity of the company. Kerala-based business men like C J George and Kochouseph Chittilappilly have invested in the company considering the opportunity provided by the sector.
