Danone launches lassi at Rs 15 a pack

MUMBAI: French dairy major Danone today announced the launch of its lassi in the country.

The product will be available in the three flavors -- sweetened, masala and mango -- and will be sold across Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad and Bangalore initially.

"Being pioneers in fermented dairy, we feel the need to bring a superior quality product to this market where lassi is a traditional drink. We are delighted to introduce packaged Danone Lassi that has been developed after extensive research to bring a product that is better in taste, and is fortified with four vital nutrients at a competitive price of Rs 15," Danone India managing director Jochen Ebert said in a statement.

The dairy major said it is a logical extension of its brand portfolio that presently includes yoghurt.
