Coca-Cola posts 4% volume growth in Q3

Unseasonal rains and overall slowing consumption led to Coca-Cola degrowing in the summer months of Apirl-June, over the past four quarters.

NEW DELHI: Beverage maker Coca-Cola India posted 4% volume growth in the July-September ’15 quarter, a moderate recovery after degrowing in the crucial April-June ’15 quarter. The Atlanta-based firm said in a statement that results were in line with expectations and reflected the execution of strategic initiatives to restore momentum.

Unseasonal rains and overall slowing consumption led to Coca-Cola degrowing in the summer months of Apirl-June, over the past four quarters.

The maker of Coca-Cola and Sprite drinks said organic revenue grew 3% in the quarter with growth in each of the company’s operating groups except for Asia Pacific. It also said it gained global value share in sparkling beverages in the quarter along with higher value and volume share in juice and juice drinks.

But its profits fell which it attributed to currency fluctuations. It reported 2% growth of world-wide soda volumes and 6% growth in non-carbs. “The global economic environment remains challenging,” Coca-Cola COO and president James Quincey said in a statement.
