Cargill India to set up second dairy feed plant in Punjab

As incomes rise, we expect dairy consumption to grow at a much faster rate encouraging investment in the feed segment, he said.
“This (plant) will enhance supply reliability and farm profitability for dairy farmers, besides contributing to local employment, thereby strengthening the state ecosystem,” Balain said, adding that the plant will create 1000 jobs directly and indirectly.
The company is also working closely with dairy producers to bring in digital tool and farm management techniques for the health of cattle to improve milk productivity

Cargill’s animal nutrition business is growing higher than the market rate, Balain added. The company has an existing plant for dairy feed in Punjab near Bathinda which is operating at 100% capacity.
India is the largest producer of milk globally, with an annual production of approximately 239.3 million metric tonnes (MMT) in 2023-24. The dairy industry in India market size was valued at Rs 18,975 billion in 2024 and expected to reach Rs 57,001.81 billion by 2033, growing at a CAGR of 12.35% during 2025-2033.
