Camson Biotech acquires Deccan & Srushti Agro

Camson has captured the complete cycle of agri produce and become the first company to have complete agri-solution in India.

MUMBAI: Bangalore's agri-biotech firm Camson Biotechnologies today said it has completed the buyout of Maharashtra-based Deccan & Srushti Agro Exports.

Camson did not provide financial details of the acquisition.

With this, Camson has captured the complete cycle of agri produce and become the first company to have complete agri-solution in India, a company statement said here.

This (the buyout) would make Camson's presence in agri upstream areas like farm inputs and land & farming, midstream like agri-business and food processing and downstream such a food companies and supermarket or consumer market, it said.

Camson now has the opportunity to supply guaranteed complete organic and safer food in a controlled manner. The whole process and produce will undergo thorough quality check & certification before delivery, the statement said.

India's food processing sector is at present estimated at $ 121 billion, ranked 5th in terms of output, consumption and exports. It accounts for 14 per cent of manufacturing GDP, 13 per cent of exports and 6 per cent of total investment and growing at more than 13 per cent annually.

The industry's size is expected to touch $ 194 billion by 2015.
