AHMEDABAD: Amul will be the only milk brand which would be available in Gujarat in the coming days, the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF) said here on Tuesday.
This decision was taken after members of 12 dairy unions in Gujarat met today at Anand to unanimously decide on a common brand.
"This transformation will help us strengthen Amul as a brand and regional brands will be phased out gradually," Chairman of GCMMF P Bhagdol told PTI.
The local dairy brands like Sumul in Surat, Sugum in Vadodara, Uttam in Ahmedabad, Vasundhara of Valsad, Gopala of Rajkot and Panchamrut in Panchmahals may simply be sold in the brand name of Amul from October 1, he said.
At present Rs 3700 crore GCMMF markets different dairy products under the brand names of Amul and Sagar, with Amul grabbing the major market share.
