Seed company Advanta India has signed two independent memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Colombian firm Team and Calsa, a subsidiary of UK's Associated British Foods for the development of their NutriSun sunflower oil.
MUMBAI: Seed company Advanta India has signed two independent memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Colombian firm Team and Calsa, a subsidiary of UK's Associated British Foods for the development of their NutriSun sunflower oil.
Both Team and Calsa possess extensive experience and expertise in the process of refinement, fractionation and tailor made edible oils, the company said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange.
Advanta had developed new sunflower hybrids producing an oil with increased contents of Stearic (only saturated fat neutral to cholesterol level) and Oleic acids, with a triglyceride composition, it said.
These characteristics lends special features of higher stability and plasticity to food for industrial uses in the area of margarines, bakery, chocolates, confectionery, frying, ice-cream, and biscuits, it said.
Advanta's NutriSun sunflower oil is suitable to deal with the replacement of Trans and other unhealthy saturated fats, it said.
These companies would undertake a research phase with Advanta India for the characterisation of the NutriSun oil and its fractions, followed by a commercial phase under which companies might continue their commercial relationship, it added.
