Several FMCG companies increased their advertisement and promotional spends significantly during the July-September quarter, but their sales growth could not keep pace, reports Sagar Malviya.

Some companies spent almost 13-17% of their net sales just on advertising and promotion, a steep increase from the historical number of 10-12%, due to intensifying competition, tough market conditions as well as new product launches.
