HPL, Phoenix selected for supply of CFL bulb packs in HP

The state power board has selected HPL company and Phoneix for supply of CFL bulbs under the Rs 8.8 crore Atal bijli bachat yojna in Himachal Pradesh.

SHIMLA: The state power board has selected HPL company and Phoneix for supply of CFL bulbs under the Rs 8.8 crore Atal bijli bachat yojna in Himachal Pradesh.

While HPL has been ordered to supply 10 lakh CFL bulb packs of four CFL bulbs at the rate of Rs 387 per pack, Phoneix would supply the rest 6.3 lakh packs at the same rate, sources in the state power board said here today.

A spokesman of the HP State Electricity Board told PTI that the HPL company has been asked to supply 10 lakh packs within 75 days.

The spokesman said it has also checked the capacity of the company to supply this number within the specified period.

Under Atal Bijli bachat yojna about 16 lakh families would be supplied one pack of CFL bulb free of cost.

HP Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal had launched the scheme on Independence Day, but the project was stopped because of dispute among companies.

The matter reached HP High Court which had asked the state to look into the dispute. The matter was resolved by a committee constituted by the Chief Secretary Asha Swaroop.
