Duncans forays in super-premium packaged tea segment
Duncans Tea, the flagship division of the Rs 2000 crore Duncan-Goenka Group, is foraying in the super premium packaged tea category of Darjeeling Tea with two brands.
With the two new brands, Duncans Darjeeling Tea and Indian Treasure, the company is aiming for 5% market share in the premium category over the next one year. "These two brands will soon be made available in all metros, beginning with Bangalore," said Duncans Tea COO MC Appaiah.
Other brands in the Duncans portfolio include Runglee Rungliot, Double Diamond, Sargam, King's Cup and Shakti.
Darjeeling tea has an annual production of 11.7 million kgs and accounts for an estimated 1.5% of overall tea production in India. It is considered the most premium packaged tea.
