Dabur promoters & Boston Reed College tie up to foray into health education, homecare
Dabur India promoters Anand Burman and Gaurav Burman have forayed into health education and homecare space through two joint ventures with foreign partners.
The Burman Family has joined hands with Andrew Branagh, founder of the American healthcare-training firm Boston Reed College, to set up Berkeley HealthEDU, which will focus on developing and delivering high-end training for healthcare professionals including doctors and nurses.
For the second venture, Health Care At Home, the Burmans have roped in Charles Walsh, the founder of the 1-billion pound British firm Healthcare at Home UK. The venture will work with hospitals and doctors to offer homecare medical services.
The Burmans have picked up 65% each in both the companies.
The first centre under Berkeley HealthEDU is being established in Delhi, Anand Burman, chairman of Dabur India, said. The company plans to establish a pan-India presence over the next two-three years, he added.
Health Care At Home has already made a start in Delhi. Charles Walsh said it plans to expand rapidly to other cities. "India has huge potential for high quality, patient-focused homecare services," he said.
The Burmans said the investments are in their personal capacity, separate from the $200-million Asian Healthcare Fund, a PE fund floated by Anand Burman three years ago.
