KATHMANDU: The factory of Dabur Nepal, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Dabur India in southern Bara district, was indefinitely closed today due to an agitation by the Maoist-affiliated trade union.
The workers affiliated to All Nepal Trade Union Federation disrupted the functioning of the plant, alleging that the management did not pay attention in implementing the agreement reached with them last year, factory sources said.
When contacted, the management of the Dabur Nepal did not want to make any comment on the matter.
Production in the factory was disrupted for several days last year too due to an agitation by the Maoist union.
The workers went on a strike demanding permanent status to all temporary employees, pay hikes and more benefits to the workers. The factory had resumed operation after the management had agreed to meet some of the demands that the trade union put forward.
