Cadbury's UK forces name change on Pune co

Cad B has changed its name to Cafe Chokolade, following a stay obtained by Cadbury’s UK from the Bombay High Court.

PUNE: Global majors track their brands closely, as Cad B, a Pune-headquartered chain of chocolate based eats and drinks found. The chain, with a presence in 35 cities, has changed its name to Cafe Chokolade, following a stay obtained by Cadbury’s UK from the Bombay High Court.

"About three months ago, Cadbury’s UK obtained a stay order from the High Court which meant that I had to stop using the name Cad B. We agreed that we would get some time to change over and now we have named ourselves Cafe Chokolade," Ameet Pahilani, founder-director, AP Confectionery Pvt Ltd, said. Apart from the name change, the chain has increased its product portfolio to include ice creams with plans to add cakes.

While all its 95 outlets are currently franchisee owned, Pahilani said they will open a 3,000 sq ft ice cream and chocolate parlour on Pune’s Fergusson College road, the first company-owned outlet. "After this, we will open one company-owned store in every major metro so that we can get more franchisees," he said.

AP Confectionery has a factory in the Hadapsar industrial estate which supports the entire organisation.
