Budget 2020 to increase rural jobs, says Amul

NEW DELHI: With the budget proposing Indian railways to set up Kisan rail through PPP arrangement, for transportation of perishable goods, the industry has welcomed the move.

"Kisan rail will reduce reduce time and cost of perishable products like milk,"said RS Sodhi, MD, Amul

With the Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in her budget speech announcing that milk processing capacity to be doubled from 53.5 million tonne to 108 million tonne by 2025, Sodhi said that this will bring more investments in dairy sector.


"This will increase farmers bargaining power to get better prices for their produce.If done properly it will create 80 lakh jobs in rural India and 12 lakh jobs in urban India,"said Sodhi.

Doubling Artificial insemination Target and elimination of FMD and Brucellosis by 2025 will increase the productivity and reduce the cost of production, he added.
