NEW DELHI: British shoes and accessories brand Dune is looking to step up sourcing of finished products from India for its stores across the world along with expanding its retail presence in the country. “In the next three-five years India could become a very strong sourcing destination for Dune,” said John Egan, chief executive officer of Dune. The company currently sources its products from China, Brazil, Portugal and Italy, with India contributing just 2% to its total production.

“India, at present, is very small compared to other markets. But we are looking to grow it substantially,” said Egan. Dune entered India last year and currently operates four stores in partnership with Reliance Brands. , the master franchisee.

The company is doing “extremely well” and store sales are encouraging, said Egan, adding that a 900 sq ft store in Delhi does sales of £750,000 a year while a similar sized store in Mumbai could achieve sales of a million pounds.
