Surya Brazil to set up manufacturing base in India

NEW DELHI: Bullish on India Brazilian personal care firm Surya Brazil will set up a manufacturing unit in the country to cater to the growing demand for its products.

The company, which is present in 23 countries and has been operating in India for the past two years, expects to clock sales of Rs one crore this year. Globally, its sales stand at $30 million.

"We have narrowed down on Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh and it (the plan) should materialise by the end of this fiscal. We are looking at locations across both the states but it is too premature to lay out the details of capacity and investment required," Surya Brazil President Clelia Angelon told PTI.

Going by growth trends, the manufacturing facility could eventually grow big enough to serve as a distribution centre for the South Asian market, she added.

The company has three manufacturing units, all in Brazil. Surya Brazil, which offers organic shampoos, conditioners, hand sanitisers, hair colours and hair masks in India, has eight distributors across the country and its products are available at major retail chains.
