Montblanc to step out, see world beyond five-stars

Luxury brand Montblanc is stepping out of five star hotels for the first time. The German brand has tied up with Aerens Gold Souk International to retail its writing instruments, watches and leather accessories through its malls.


NEW DELHI: Luxury brand Montblanc is stepping out of five star hotels for the first time. The German brand has tied up with Aerens Gold Souk International to retail its writing instruments, watches and leather accessories through its malls.

Says Ashish Gupta, vice-chairman, Aerens Gold Souk International, “We have tied up with Montblanc and the brand will have an exclusive outlet in our luxury zone. The outlet will be operational from January onwards, the first one being in Gold Souk, Gurgaon. We gradually plan to extend the brand to our other branches.”

The jewellery and accessory mall chain Gold Souk has set an ambitious target: 100 malls in 100 cities in 100 months. After its Gold Souk in Gurgaon and Wedding Souk in Pitampura (Delhi), the one in Ludhiana would be operational from April 2007, while those in Jaipur and Cochin would be operating from first and second quarter of 2008 respectively.

The group is also in talks with other luxury watch and jewellery makers for similar arrangements. “We are in discussions with Rolex, Cartier and Chopard to finalise similar deals,” said Mr Gupta. Some of the other international brands like Alukas and Damas have already made their foray in Gold Souk in the last one year. The idea is to offer varieties to customers under the same roof.

At present, Montblanc has eight exclusive stores in five star hotels like the Taj Group and Maurya Sheraton. The Montblanc product range extends from exquisite writing accessories, luxury leather goods and belts, to jewellery, eyewear and watches. Montblanc is currently operational in more than 70 countries.
