L&T Finance eyes Bengal expansion with 26 new gold-loan locations

The lender currently operates 28 locations in West Bengal, including four in Kolkata. It plans to add another 26 outlets by March 2027, with four of the new locations expected to be in Kolkata, Raju Dodti, Whole-time Director and Chief Operating Officer, L&T Finance, said.
The company has also rolled out new campaigns to promote its gold-loan offerings.

A year ago, L&T Finance had no gold-loan presence in West Bengal. Its portfolio in the state has since grown to around Rs 165 crore.
According to CRIF data, the gold-loan market in West Bengal is estimated at around Rs 47,000 crore, while L&T Finance's market share in the state stands at 2.2 per cent.

The average gold-loan ticket size at L&T Finance is around Rs 2.6 lakh per customer.
At the company level, its gold-loan book stood at Rs 3,829 crore in the first quarter of FY27. L&T Finance had acquired and integrated the gold-loan business of Paul Merchants Finance Ltd., in June 2025.
