'Lab diamonds help create jobs'

Commerce and industry minister Piyush Goyal said the treatment of lab-grown diamonds as natural diamonds will help in promoting the growth of the sector and create jobs. "These are not artificial diamonds and they are now treated as equivalent to natural diamonds. They are considered gems. It's a big thumbs up... it will help create jobs," he said.

In June, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had gifted an eco-friendly lab-grown diamond to the US first lady Jill Biden during his US visit.
