ISF partners with Italian industry body
The Indian Shoe Federation signs an agreement with Italian chamber of commerce for sharing expertise and assisting small and medium enterprises in technology upgradation.
ISF has identified 20 Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) which would initially benefit from the training programme. Unioncamere Marche would implement the programme in collaboration with another Italian industry body Confindustria.
As per the one-year agreement, the Marche regional cluster model would be promoted within the Chennai footwear cluster. Representatives from the city would visit Marche in Italy to understand functioning of its clusters and business development services offered by them.
The Marche region hosts one of the most advanced Italian leather footwear clusters.
This is part of a Consolidated Project, which envisages establishment of cooperation agreements between Indian and Italian clusters to strengthen capacities of firms within the clusters and foster cooperative linkages among the firms and other cluster-level institutions, a release said on Thursday.
A Consolidated Project for Small and Medium Enterprises development in India, fully funded by the Italian government to the tune of three million dollars, was launched recently in collaboration with the MSME Ministry to support development of Indian MSMEs into globally competitive units.
Manufacturing sectors identified for the project are leather (tanning, footwear and leather goods) and auto components. The United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) is the implementing agency for the three-year project.
