“Besides Indian players using this facility, now European jewellers have also begun using the services of the CFC for quality testing,” said Ravi Menon, CEO, Bharat Ratnam Mega CFC at the SEEPZ special economic zone (SEZ) in Mumbai.
The CFC was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in January and offers technical services such as 3D printing, hallmarking, mass finishing, refining and casting of gold, platinum and silver.
Menon said that the CFC has state of the art machines to help improve the output in terms of quality, productivity and yield of the finished jewellery and further boosting gem and jewellery exports.
He said that a team of senior officials and lab managers of certain European jewellery firms visited centre earlier this month.
There are 50 active customers on CFC and 100 are in the pipeline.
SEEPZ accounts for 10.26% of total gem and jewellery exports from India and 85% of the studed jewellery exports.
