HYDERABAD: Shoe maker Bata is targeting a turnover of Rs 1,000 crore this fiscal against Rs 800 crore last year, to achieve which it will expand its retail stores across the country.

"The current growth of Bata India is about 30 per cent quarterly with its 1,200 outlets. We are confident of achieving our target of Rs 1,000 crore with a net profit of over Rs 60 crore," Bata Managing Director Marcelo Villagran said.

The company will open 70-80 new stores, he said after inaugurating the 'Hush Puppies' exclusive store here last evening.

After this exclusive global brand outlet, a second will be opened shortly in Delhi and there are plans to open the same in other cities in the near future, Villagran said.

This is a part of the company's retail expansion strategy to cater the wider segment of customers, he added.
