The Videocon group plans to invest 150 billion rupees in West Bengal to set up a steel and a power plant, a top official said on Thursday.

KOLKATA: The Videocon group plans to invest 150 billion rupees in West Bengal to set up a steel and a power plant, a top official said on Thursday.

The steel plant will have an annual capacity of 3 million tonnes while the power plant will have a capacity of 1,200 megawatts per year, Chairman VN Dhoot said after signing the memorandum of understanding with the state government.

"The steel plant will produce value-added products to cater to the auto and ship-building industry," he said adding the investment would be made through a special purpose vehicle.
