Ravinder Zutshi, YV Verma back in consumer industry

Two veteran consumer electronics industry executives who played pivotal roles in the grand success of Korean majors LG and Samsung in India are back in action in the industry in new roles.

KOLKATA: Two veteran consumer electronics industry executives who played pivotal roles in the grand success of Korean majors LG and Samsung in India are back in action in the industry in new roles.

Ravinder Zutshi, who was the deputy managing director at Samsung India till last December, has joined smartphone distribution firm Optiemus Infracom as its managing director, while YV Verma, who was director for home appliances business at LG India till two years ago, has joined Videocon as a part time consultant to help fine-tune the Indian consumer electronics maker’s human resource strategy.

Both these executives were with the Korean firms since their entry into India twenty years back.

Optiemus promoter Ashok Gupta has stepped down as managing director to make way for Zutshi. Gupta will remain chairman of the firm, which is one of the largest distributors of Samsung smartphones, responsible for distribution in modern retail.
