BERLIN: Electronics major Philips on Friday said it would introduce its latest high-end television Aurea in India in 2008 as its consumer electronics unit in the country plans a business growth of 25 per cent during the year.
"We would like to introduce a complete range of consumer electronics products in India as in Brazil and Russia," Philips Consumer Electronics Chief Executive Officer Rudy Provoost told reporters on the sidelines of IFA Berlin - a conference and exhibition of consumer electronics products.
Philips has unveiled the Aurea brand of television at the IFA conference, which seeks to enhance television viewing experience by creating a background effect through ambilight technology.
Pointing out that the Philips' consumer electronics unit in India is planning a business growth of 25 per cent in 2008, the CEO said the high-end product have a limited market in the country.
Therefore, Aurea would be introduced gradually to meet the growing aspirations of consumers, Provoost said, adding that the new product would be launched in Europe in September.
The current agenda of the company in India is to introduce high-end lifestyle products like headphones studded with Swarovski crystals, ambisound home theatre and wireless music systems. Some of these products will hit the shops by next month, he said.
The company also plans to introduce Blue-ray Disc systems and technology, which is an improvement over the DVD technology. This system delivers an improved picture and sound quality and has found wide acceptance in the developed markets, Provoost said.
