Philips launches portable MP3 players range

Philips on Friday launched the portable digital audio MP3 players range and said it aims at capturing 10 per cent of the market share in the MP3 player space within a year.

BANGALORE: Consumer electronics major Philips on Friday launched the portable digital audio MP3 players range and said it aims at capturing 10 per cent of the market share in the MP3 player space within a year.
Philips "Go Gear" MP3 players offer convenient wire free USB transfer, adequate memory storage in the range of 512 mega byte-1 giga byte, voice recording facility, a battery life of eight hours and audio playability of MP3, WMA and WAV, a senior company executive told reporters.
The company has targetted a 25 per cent market share in the MP3 segment in three years, Gunjan Srivastava, Director, Entertainment Solutions, Consumer Electronics, Philips Electronics India Limited, said.
He said the MP3 market was expected to rise by 150 per cent in 2006.
The Philips Go Gear SA 1100 model is priced at Rs 3,999 and Philips Go Gear SA 1110 at Rs 4,999.
Philips, he said, enjoys the number one audio brand status with 39.3 per cent value share as of May this year in the audio market.
