LG posts sales revenue of Rs 1,132 cr during Diwali

Growth was led by washing machines category which almost doubled in revenues followed by refrigerators, microwave ovens and airconditioners.

New Delhi: LG Electronics India has posted record sales revenue of Rs 1,132 crore during the Diwali period (four weeks leading to the festival), an increase of 51% compared to Rs 749 crore for the same period a year ago.

In volume terms, the company recorded 34% growth across product categories which shows that a large part of its overall growth came from premium products which sell at a higher value.

The prime driver for the company was the home appliances category which grew 78%. Growth was led by washing machines category which almost doubled in revenues followed by refrigerators, microwave ovens and airconditioners.

The consumer electronics category reported 70% growth over the previous year led by revenue growth from conventional as well as flat panel televisions. Home appliances and consumer electronics apart, LG Electronics also sells mobile handsets and IT products in the country.
