LG associates itself with Indian golf
After having decided not to renew its global cricket sponsorship contract with ICC, LG Electronics on Monday announced its association with golf in India.
The LG Indian Amateur Golf Tour will touch 11 cities incorporating 13 events, making it a nation-wide tour. The opening event of the 13-leg LG Indian Amateur Tour tees off with the Eagleton Amateur in Bangalore from June 12. The tour will showcase names including the likes of 2006 Asian Games silver medalists Anirban Lahiri, Joseph Chakola apart from British Open 2006 (Junior) winner Amanjyot Singh and India Junior No: 1 Rahul Bakshi among others.
Speaking at the event, LG Electronics’ vice president(sales & marketing) Girish Rao, said "We are pleased to be associated with the niche game of golf as we stand here for technologically superior products which blends perfectly with the game."
The tour will culminate with the 107th All India Amateur Open which will see the participation of international teams in Delhi. The national team for all the international competitions will be selected on the basis of the performances in the Indian Amateur Golf Tour.
Tiger Sports Marketing will be managing the tour while Times of India has come on board as the Associate Sponsors. Ten Sports is the Official Sports Channel while Pepsi and Gatorade are the official beverage partners.
